Think Like a Winner

A very wise man once said; “A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks he becomes”.  A very wise woman, (my mother) always told me that the only thing you can control in life is the six inches between your two ears, so if you want to be a winner you have to think like a winner. A very wise woman indeed!

Winning can be very seductive and very attractive. In our society, it seems that it is all about winning. It’s the American way!  Everybody loves a winner. Winning the big game. Winning the big promotion. Winning  in the game of life. It all starts with the way we think and the way we perceive the world around us. Positive thinking or as I like to call it, thinking like a winner, is practical living. Of the choices available it is the most productive and the most fulfilling. It’s not a cop-out or an excuse to avoid reality, instead it is a way of creating a consistent effective behavior for high performance. It helps to keep out all the negativity and pessimism that is everywhere in society today.

In keeping with my mother’s wisdom, your reality is what you make it to be. It is your perception of reality that will make all the difference in the way you think, behave, and perform. So if you want to be a winner, you have to “Think Like a Winner”.

As you head into the weekend, remember to “Think Like a Winner”!

Please enjoy the following poem from Walter D. Wintle

If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think you dare not, you don’t,
If you like to win, but you think you can’t
It is almost certain you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the man WHO THINKS HE CAN!
